In Ysgol Pen-y-Garth we hope to work towards being a Rights Respecting School. In the new year (January 2023) we aim to launch children’s rights across the whole school and then to go for the ‘Bronze Rights Respecting School Award’. The children have already had various experiences learning about children’s rights and we are looking forward to working with UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) and to become a Rights Respecting School in the near future.
The Children’s Commissioner for Wales makes sure that all children and young people in Wales find out about their rights. These rights are the things that children need to be safe, healthy and happy. The United Nations has a list of all the rights that children have. The list is called the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, or UNCRC for short.
